Full Description

The Wankowicz lab is looking for a postdoc interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying protein conformational entropy in protein functions, focusing on binding and catalysis. Ideal candidates are those with a strong interest in experimental approaches to studying entropy and a desire to expand their expertise in bioinformatic analysis.

Current projects include exploring (1) how conformational ensembles/entropy impact substrate specificity through evolution and/or clinical genetic variation, (2) how to increase entropy in designed enzymes, (3) how to manipulate protein conformational entropy between ligand analogs.

A Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, or a related field is required. Experience in structural biology (electron microscopy or X-ray crystallography) is desirable.
