Full Description
We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position on the V-CARES project focusing on hallucination detection in medical chatbots utilizing large language models (LLMs) in the mental health domain. This project aims to enhance the reliability and accuracy of medical chatbots by developing methods to identify and mitigate hallucinations, ensuring safe and effective patient interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research on hallucination detection techniques specific to medical chatbots powered by LLMs.
• Design and implement algorithms to analyze and identify instances of hallucination in chatbot outputs.
• Develop evaluation metrics and benchmarks to assess the performance of hallucination detection methods.
• Publish findings in leading journals and present research at conferences in the fields of AI and healthcare.
• Mentor graduate students involved in the project.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
• Strong background in natural language processing, particularly with large language models.
• Experience with developing or evaluating AI systems in medical or healthcare settings.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:
• Prior research experience focused on hallucination detection, model interpretability, or AI ethics.
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences related to NLP, AI, or healthcare.
• Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in medical AI applications.
