Move Crew

About Move Crew

First-year student move in, one of Vanderbilt’s signature events, relies on numerous faculty, staff, and student volunteers to ensure success.  Upper-division student volunteers are assigned as members of the Move Crew.  The primary responsibilities of the Move Crew include welcoming first-year students and their families to the University and assisting with moving their personal items into their houses on the Ingram Commons.

First-year student move in is scheduled for Saturday, August 16 from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. noon.

Signup Information

Move Crew signup is available to continuing upper-division students in the Housing Portal on April 14 and due by July 15 at 5 p.m.  All students who sign up will be assigned as a member of the Move Crew.  We make every effort to assign students to their first-year house.

Early Move-In Date/Time

Move Crew participants are eligible to move into their residence halls as early as Thursday, August 14 at 8 a.m.  As we will be preparing the halls for your arrival prior to this time, we are unable to grant requests for earlier move in.  Please be sure to plan your summer housing arrangements accordingly.

Training & Time Commitment

Move Crew training will take place on Friday, August 15 at 4 p.m. on the Ingram Commons.  Additional training information will be emailed to students in early August.  All Move Crew members are required to participate fully in first-year student move in, which includes swiping in at your assigned house by 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 and swiping out upon release by your House Manager once all students are moved in.  Move in typically concludes around 12 p.m.
