Carpool

Carpooling is a great way for commuters to share on gas costs, avoid wear and tear on personal vehicles, save money on parking and spend more time connecting with fellow Vanderbilt community members.

The MoveVU Commute Hub features a carpool matching tool. Join the carpool interest list if:

  • You are interested in carpooling to campus
  • You simply want to see if there are other Vanderbilt members in your area that share a similar work schedule and commute route as you who are also interested in carpooling

Vanpool

Vanpooling is a great way for commuters to share on gas costs, avoid wear and tear on personal vehicles, save money on parking and spend more time connecting with fellow Vanderbilt community members.

The MoveVU Commute Hub features a vanpool tool that allows you to:

  • Register an existing vanpool
  • Join a vanpool that matches your work schedule and commute route
  • Join the vanpool interest list (if there is not currently a vanpool that fits with your work schedule and commute)

Ready to vanpool? There are a few next steps you can take:

  • If you find 4 or more people through the vanpool interest list, you can reach out directly to a van provider to form your vanpool. Vanderbilt works with providers like VanStar and Commute with Enterprise.
  • If you find 4 or more people through the vanpool interest and would like assistance navigating how to form your vanpool, contact us at movevu@vanderbilt.edu and we can help you through the process.
  • If you only find 1, 2 or 3 potential Vanderbilt vanpoolers in your area, contact us at movevu@vanderbilt.edu, and with your permission, we can connect you with a vanpool provider like VanStar or Commute with Enterprise to see if there are other people outside of Vanderbilt on their interest lists with whom you could form a vanpool.

Electric Vehicles

Vanderbilt is committed to electrifying its fleet and encouraging students, faculty and staff to use an electric vehicle (EV) if they choose to drive to campus.

Vanderbilt maintains support infrastructure for individuals who use electric vehicles. There are currently 16 EV charging stations located in the 25th Avenue, Wesley Place and Terrace Place garages and in Lot 5B.

Charging Policy

Users must limit their charging sessions to four hours of active charging only. When a vehicle finishes charging, it must be moved.

Failure to adhere to this policy will result in citations and/or towing. This limit allows enough time for charging while ensuring a number of people can access the charging stations throughout the day.

Charging Electric Vehicles on Campus

View a map of electric vehicle charging stations on campus through the Interactive Parking Map here.

25th  Avenue Garage, Wesley Place Garage and Lot 5B:

Charging stations are in hourly paid parking spaces in the 25th Avenue Garage (spaces 325 & 326), Wesley Place Garage (spaces 52 & 53) and Lot 5B (spaces 44-53). When using the charging station, you must have an active Vanderbilt annual parking permit or pay the hourly rate.

Terrace Place Garage:

There are two charging stations on the first level of Terrace Place Garage (spaces 61 & 63) available for daily parking participants.
