Your Parking Options

As a Faculty and Staff member or a Postdoc, Vanderbilt University offers two parking program options to consider, daily parking or annual parking.

We strive to provide you with the flexibility and convenience you require for your parking needs.

Consider using our interactive tool, the commute calculator, to compare parking options and pricing.

A popular choice among Faculty, Staff, and Postdocs is our annual/monthly parking permit option. With an annual permit you can park as many times as you need to park, in any non-reserved spot, in any of the annual permit lots on campus.

All annual permit parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost of your monthly permit is determined by your salary or stipend band. Please find your salary band to see the corresponding permit costs that applies to you.

As Faculty, Staff and Postdocs, the cost of your monthly parking permit will depend on your salary/stipend band as follows:

  • Band 1: < $59,999
    • Monthly Permit Cost: $48
  • Band 2: $60,000 - $99,999
    • Monthly Permit Cost: $72
  • Band 3: $100,000 – $149,999
    • Monthly Permit Cost: $98
  • Band 4: $150,000 >
    • Monthly Permit Cost: $138

To purchase an annual permit, please refer to the "How to Purchase Annual Parking" section below.

Refunds

Refunds for the current month's parking are not available. Payment remains the responsibility of the permit holder. However, faculty, staff and postdocs have the option of cancelling their permit for subsequent months. Upon permit cancellation, your account will be flagged for parking use for the remainder of the month. Permit cancellation requests should be sent to parking@vanderbilt.edu by the close of business on the last working day of the month to avoid being charged the following month (during the month of December, requests must be in by noon, prior to or on the 19th of the month). Following the receipt of your cancellation request, deductions for future months will be discontinued.

How to Purchase Daily Parking

The Daily Parking Program

How it works:

Participants pay for parking only on the days they drive to campus. Please note that access to the daily parking facilities and eligibility for sustainable commute incentives and programs are exclusive to daily parking participants. Faculty, Staff, Postdocs, graduate, and professional students can participate in the Daily Parking program. If you are already enrolled in Daily Parking, there's no need to reapply.

How to apply:

If you have further questions, please view the Daily Parking FAQs here

Sustainable Commute Incentives

Only daily parking participants are eligible to earn sustainable commute incentives.

Discover the benefits of sustainable commuting with Vanderbilt University's 2024–25 Sustainable Commute Incentive program.

The 2024–25 Sustainable Commute Incentive:

  • Earn $1 on weekdays when you log carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, bus or train commutes
  • Access the Guaranteed Ride Home program when family or work emergencies require you to get home unexpectedly

Daily Parking Charges and Sustainable Commute Incentives

Parking charges and commute incentives are meticulously recorded in the MoveVU Commute Hub and are processed with utmost care. Here's how the processing unfolds:

For Faculty and Staff, parking charges and commute incentives are debited and credited in alignment with existing parking payroll deductions. Monthly employees will see these charges reflected on their monthly check, while weekly and biweekly employees will observe them on their second check. It's important to note that these charges and incentives are processed with a one-month lag.

It's important to note that all members of the community have access to monitor their parking charges and commute incentives through the Commute Calendar at any given time. Additionally, any parking appeals need to be addressed and resolved before the conclusion of the pay period.

Upon concluding their employment with Vanderbilt University, departing employees are required to request a refund of any earned credit amount by contacting Human Resources in writing, within thirty (30) calendar days of their employment separation date. After this period, any unclaimed credits will be irrevocably waived and forfeited. This policy applies to all employees, including Faculty, Staff, postdoc scholars, and non-exempt Postdocs.

Furthermore, it's important to note that incentive awards may be subject to Federal income tax, and each participant is responsible for reporting and paying any taxes due on these awards. For further guidance and information, individuals are encouraged to consult with their tax advisor.

Where You Should Park

To ensure the safety and convenience of our campus community, it is imperative to note that parking without a valid Vanderbilt University registration permit is strictly prohibited across campus, with the exception of designated visitor spaces.

University parking lots are categorized by various designations, including annual, daily, undergraduate, and reserved spaces. Vehicles must adhere to their respective affiliations with the university when parking, with any exceptions outlined in the University Parking Regulations.

An interactive parking map displays all annual parking permit, daily parking program and hourly paid parking locations to make it easier to see which options are convenient for you.

Important Parking Policies and Information

It's important to understand that registration ownership is not transferable under any circumstances. This means that the registered owner of a vehicle must remain consistent throughout its registration period. This policy is in place to maintain clarity and accountability within our parking system. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this regulation.

Please also note that a marginal annual parking rate increase for 2024-2025 will be applied to ensure that Vanderbilt's parking program remains self-sufficient and operating costs are covered, including debt payments on garages, maintenance costs on all parking facilities and spaces, and the personnel to manage and enforce parking on campus. Program enhancements under MoveVU, the university's mobility and transportation strategic plan, are also covered in part by the parking program. You can refer to Categories of Permits, Parking Regulations and Visitors, for more information.

Please also be aware that Vanderbilt University assumes no responsibility for damage, theft, or loss of a motor vehicle, or to any personal property therein, while the vehicle is either parked on or operated on properties owned or controlled by the University.
