  Aquatic Environments

    Life in a Pond
    Introduction

Using the handout, students answer each question. From their responses, they draw and describe an animal that could survive in an aquatic environment. The animal should be drawn actual size or to a specific scale. Third, students draw a pond and place their animal where it would be found (surface, shore line, bottom, open water), along with other animals and plants that might inhabit the given environment.
Students present and discuss their animals and responses. The class creates a wall mural showing a cross-section of a pond and places their animals appropriately in it, defending their decisions with facts about similar real animals.
