Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA)/Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
Instrument location: Jacobs Hall 157
Civil and Environmental Engineering Department
TA Instruments Q600 SDT
The TA Instruments Q600 SDT simultaneously measures mass through thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and heat flow through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A matched platinum thermocouple pair within the dual beams connected to a dual balance mechanism provides precise TGA and DSC measurements from ambient to 1,500°C. A separate gas inlet is available to introduce a reaction gas to the samples. The exhaust gas port can be connected to a mass spectrometer to identify sample components.
Usage of the TGA/DSC is charged on an hourly basis. All training and reservations for the TGA/DSC are handled via MDERFH’s iLab Core.
