The purpose of this study is to assess the natriuretic peptide response to dietary salt loading in African-American compared with White individuals. Natriuretic peptides are hormones produced by the heart that help regulate salt and water balance in the body. The study involves four study visits, adhering to a provided diet, an MRI, and two echocardiograms.
