Lunch and Conversation with Alex McNeill, More Light Presbyterians

Thursday, Nov. 20 – 11:45am – 1pm
Reading Room @ Vanderbilt Divinity

Alex McNeill serves as Executive Director of More Light Presbyterians, a national organization devoted to advocacy, education, and support for LGBTQ people and issues within and beyond the church.

Marriage continues to be a huge issue within churches, but we must also begin to look beyond the marriage issue to other ways in which our churches define people according to gender. How can we begin to work beyond the gender binary? What would that look like in everyday practice? How would the church be changed? As a theologian and as the first trans person to head a national mainline denominational agency, Alex brings unique experiences, insights and knowledge to the conversation.

This event is co-sponsored by: GABLE, Carpenter Program on Religion, Gender and Sexuality, Vanderbilt Office of LGBTQIA Life, Office of Women’s Concerns (VDS), and VU’s UKIRK
