RIVER ACCESS BUILDING >>> CHANGED TO >>> Tree Planting along the Harpeth River
Harpeth River State Park, TN
Cost: FREE! Sign-up by: Tue, Mar 13 Pre-Trip Meeting: Tue, Mar. 13 at 5 PM
On this trip, we will assist the Harpeth River Watershed Association in its efforts to plant trees along the Harpeth River. The Flood of May 2010 uprooted many trees along its path. Planting trees along these bare banks will not only stabilize the stream bank but will reduce the amount of soil that washes into the river with each rain event. HRWA-s goal is to replant 10,000 tree saplings in 2012 with over 5000 during February and March before the end of the spring tree-planting season. Volunteers should be prepared to get muddy, wear long pants/sleeves, boots or closed-toed shoes. Gloves, tools, and lunch will be provided. Estimated trip duration: 8 AM - 3 PM.
