The Vanderbilt Programming Board-€™s Homecoming Committee has worked tirelessly to prepare an exciting week of Homecoming events centered around the theme Conquer the Knight!   This year marks the return of several traditions during Homecoming, including a block party and parade, as well as several new activities like a banner decorating competition and dodge ball tournament. Additionally, there will be two Commodore Cup awards given, one to a Greek organization and one to an Independent organization, each with a prize of $750!

Our exciting week begins on Sunday afternoon when the organizations-€™ banners are due to be displayed by 4 PM.   These banners will help to excite the campus with plenty of school spirit.

On Monday through Wednesday, students have the opportunity to give back by participating in the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Whether you are a first-time or frequent donor, blood is always in short supply, and each donor has the potential to save three lives. The drive takes place in Sarratt 216/220 from 10 AM -€“ 4 PM each day. Schedule your appointment today at redcrossblood. org and enter the sponsor code vandy19.

Then, on Tuesday, we will be giving away free pizza on the patio by the Commons.   Come by from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM to grab a slice!   Tuesday evening holds this year-€™s most exciting new competition, the Dodge Ball Tournament.   Teams will participate in a single-elimination tournament.

On Wednesday, the Homecoming Committee is partnering with Lambda to put on a spectacular Drag Show held in the SLC Ballroom at 7:30 PM.   This year, the event will include three alumni from Logo-€™s network television show RuPaul-€™s Drag Race, the ultimate drag queen competition. Raja, Pandora Box and Jujubee will be joining local Nashville drag queens as they strut down the runway. Whether you are a seasoned drag show veteran or this will be your first Drag Show experience, it will be a night to remember! Get your free tickets from the Sarratt Box Office.

Commodore Quake makes an exciting return on Thursday night with headliner My Morning Jacket and special guest Trey Songz in Memorial Gym.   Doors open at 7:30 PM, show begins at 8.   Student tickets are only $15.

The Block Party will take over Kensington Place from 7-10 PM on Friday night. Check out YouTube sensation Karmin, who were recently featured on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Their amazing covers of chart-topping songs will blow you away!   Free food will include Jim N-€™ Nick-€™s barbeque, Jet-€™s Pizza, and a snow cone machine.   We-€™ll have giveaways, including neon sunglasses and t-shirts for the first 500 students there.   You can feel like a knight by competing with your friends on the pedestal jousting inflatable, or you can participate in our Conquer the Bull competition on the mechanical bull.   This is a party you don-€™t want to miss!

Game day Saturday! Registered organizations will decorate their golf carts Friday night before the Block Party from 6-7 PM and will be ready to premiere them in the parade on Saturday.   The parade will begin at Kensington Place three hours before kickoff.   We-€™ll head around the stadium and into VandyVille, meet up with the football team as they exit their bus, and continue with the Spirit of Gold band, Cheer Explosion, and other athletes to end the parade.   Special guests will be in the parade as well; you never know who you might see!   A panel of judges will score the golf carts, and the winners will be announced during the football game.  Finally, be sure to watch the Halftime show for recognition of the Top 10 Outstanding Seniors as well as the announcement of this year-€™s Outstanding Senior.
