“Starlet, screen siren, the most beautiful woman in the world,” all phrases used to describe 1940s Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr. This illuminating documentary adds “inventor” to the list. Lamarr’s legion of fans never knew that she was Jewish and that she developed a “secret communications system” that helped the Allies beat the Nazis and which is the basis for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies.
