Hope you had a great Spring Break!
Last March in New Orleans, Vanderbilt men’s basketball defeated Kentucky 71-64 to earn the SEC Tournament title. Junior guard John Jenkins was named Tournament MVP. This week, the ‘Dores aim to defend their title as the SEC Tournament travels to Music City, USA.
The Vandy Boys battled through frigid temperatures and a few flurries during the first weekend in March to improve their record to 12-1 (11-1 at ‘The Hawk’).
Junior LHP Kevin Ziomek was named SEC Pitcher of the Week after striking out a career-high 15 batters in a complete game, one-hit shutout on Friday (Z’s first career CG made him the second consecutive ‘Dore to be named SEC Pitcher of the Week– sophomore LHP
Philip Pfeifer earned the honor Feb. 25.)
Sophomore RHP Tyler Beede kept the momentum going and improved his record to 3-0, striking out 8 Flames in a 5-3 win Saturday. On Sunday, freshman outfielder Rhett Wiseman earned a shaving cream pie to the face from his ecstatic teammates after his first Vanderbilt home run– a walk-off two-run blast in the 10th inning to seal the team’s second series sweep).
