Registrations can be completed at the Office of Campus Recreation from 9am – 5 pm Mon. – Fri. All freshmen teams register by residence hall floors (contact RA). For more info call 3-8186.

Spin Classes @ The Rec

Mon and Wed nights from 7 pm to 8 pm with Johnny

Tue and Thu mornings from 6 am to 7 am with Maria/Lindey

Sun afternoon from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm with Johnny

How to sign Up for Spin

  • Each participant must pick up an authorized number located at the Student Recreation Center-€™s Welcome Center Desk 30 minutes prior class beginning. Class size is limited to 20 participants.
  • Each participant must turn in numbered card to their instructor upon entering the class. It is recommended that you be present at least 10 minutes before class starts to set up your bike.
  • When all the numbered cards have been handed out at the Welcome Center – the class is full.
  • There is NO waiting list or sign up sheet.
  • No one is allowed to enter class once it has begun.

What to Bring?

  • Towel
  • At least one water bottle (The bikes are equipped with two water bottle holders. NO open containers are allowed.)
  • Cycling shoes / or regular workout shoes (the bikes are equipped with cycling clips).

First Aid CertificationCPR/First Aid classes will be offered:
Feb. 19, March 18, and April 8, 2012

Be sure to register as soon as possible. Class size is limited to 15 participants based on first come, first served and will fill up quickly!

Cost: $120 (Payment is due at the time of registration.
Please make checks payable to Vanderbilt University.)

To register, stop by the Office of Campus Recreation during office hours, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. For more information call 343-8186. No Phone Reservations. Classes are held in Classroom A & B of the Student Recreation Center.


Student Rec Center Climbing Wall – Two programs are offered at the Climbing Wall, which is located in the lobby of the Student Recreation Center.

Climbing Workshop – Formal, basic climbing instruction is provided by the Climbing Staff. There are two topics available: 1) The basics: equipment, commands, knots, etc. 2) More details, and an intro to belaying. Request Workshop 1 or 2 upon arrival at the wall. WORKSHOPS BECOME SUPERVISED CLIMBING IF NOBODY SHOWS.

Supervised Climbing – Office of Campus Recreation Climbing Instructors and equipment are present to assist you in climbing. Minimum age is 14. CLIMBING SHOES: are available to use, FREE OF CHARGE. You must wear socks. All workshops are free to Student Recreation Center members. Guests pay $5.00 per visit for workshops or to use the Wall.

Hours: Mon -€“ Thu 4 pm -€“ 8 pm, Fri 4 pm -€“ 6 pm. Closed on weekends.

Sports Medicine Coverage

Do you need advice in regards to a sports injury? We offer during the semester months on Tue and Thu our very own Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer is friendly and one of Vanderbilt’s best in the field. So if you need advice, he/she will be in the Student Recreation Center lounge ready to answer any and all of your questions.
