Cable Transition

Campus Residents,

Over the next few months, Vanderbilt University will transition from our current cable tv service to IPTV (Internet Protocol Television). As part of the transition, we will also change to Xfinity for our program content. Because IPTV delivers content through the internet, you will be able to watch on all of your devices: computers, tablets, smartphones, and TV.

The transition will happen in stages.

  • First, the channel lineup will change to Xfinity’s (still using the existing cable system)
  • Second, we will turn on IPTV delivery of content (cable and IPTV working simultaneously)
  • Third, we will retire the cable system (content available only via IPTV)

The switch to Xfinity’s channel lineup will occur over the Thanksgiving break. Residents will receive instructions for making the transition later this week.
