Beethoven Sonata No. 7 in C minor, Op. 30 No. 2
Ravel Sonata No. 2 in G major
Schubert Fantasie in C major, D. 934

An evening showcasing three of the most loved of all works for violin and piano. Beethoven-€™s Sonata no. 7 was published in 1803, just a year before he began work on his epic Fifth Symphony. The two works share the dramatic key of C minor and the same riveting intensity. Ravel-€™s sonata from 1922 is a glimpse into the diverse influences of the era, from impressionism to jazz. It features the infectious -€œBlues-€ second movement, inspired by the jazz Ravel heard while traveling in America. The final piece is the sublimely beautiful Fantasie by Schubert, a revered work whose beauty defies description.
