At the Crossroads of Justice and Love: Thistle Farming Stories
Monday Oct 29th, 2012
Sarratt Cinema 4:30-6pm
In continuation of our campus conversations around Human Identities, Vanderbilt is pleased to welcome Becca Stevens, founder of Magdalene & Thistle Farms, in an interactive presentation about social enterprise in the community.
The Reverend Becca Stevens is an Episcopal priest serving as Chaplain at St Augustine’s at Vanderbilt University. In 1997, Stevens founded Magdalene & Thistle Farms, a community and social enterprise that stands with women recovering from prostitution, trafficking, addiction and life on the streets. Magdalene, the residential model, serves women for two years at no cost to residents. Thistle Farms employs 40 residents and graduates who manufacture, market and sell all natural bath and beauty products in over 200 retail stores across the globe.
If you are interested in supporting Magdalene & Thistle Farms, products will be available for purchase in the lobby following the event. Please bring cash, check, or credit card in order to make purchases.
