International Orientation Leaders are upper-division international and domestic students who enthusiastically help to welcome new international students to Vanderbilt University before and during International Orientation. Under the guidance of the student organization iLEAD, IOLs help to acclimate new international students by respecting different cultures, creating community, and empowering international students. Each IOL will lead a group of approximately 8-10 new international students assigned to them, providing encouragement and support as they undergo social, cultural, and academic transition. IOLs also assist with the implementation of International Orientation as a whole. IOLs will benefit from interacting with people from around the world and developing communication skills with that diverse population. They will also gain practical experience in teamwork and group facilitation. While IOLs obtain and practice valuable leadership skills, they also get to have lots of fun with their peers and be role models for them as strong leaders, successful students, and exemplary Dores!
