AlertVU test scheduled for September 17th
Vanderbilt University Public Safety will conduct a system test of the AlertVU emergency notification system on Tuesday, September 17, at 2:00 PM.
AlertVU rapidly sends messages to the delivery points in its database in the event of an imminent threat or danger to the Vanderbilt community, such as a tornado forecasted to strike Vanderbilt or an active shooter on campus.
Cell phone numbers provided by students to the university are automatically enrolled in the AlertVU database. Additionally, all Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in the system using their Vanderbilt email address.
Students can update their contact points—such as their cell/home phone, text messaging*, or personal email account—through the YES system. All persons are encouraged to update their emergency contact information at least annually, or as needed. Instructions on how to update your information in YES are available on the AlertVU website.
If you need assistance with these steps, contact Jessamyn Davis.
*Users who opt to receive alerts via text messages may be subject to charges from their service providers
