Can-€™t Imagine Leaving Nashville for the Summer?   Don-€™t!

2011 Summer Conference Coordinator Applications Now Available

Who says you can-€™t stay here?   Each May, whether you are ready or not, the residence halls close and you-€™re left knowing that you don-€™t have to go home but you can-€™t stay here.   Of course you can!   Spend your summer at Vanderbilt making new friends and enjoying Nashville.

As a gateway to campus for summer visitors the Office of Conferences was proud to host a diverse array of groups right here at Vanderbilt. Among these were the Tennessee Special Olympics, idTech Camps, the Foundation for Teaching Economics, Xcelerate Lacrosse, Campus PRIDE and many other athletic camps and educational conferences and even lodging for summer interns and researchers in the Summer Intern Housing Program.

In preparing for 2012 we are currently seeking highly motivated and personable individuals to continue the tradition of providing hospitality to our summer guests. While these organizations visit and reside on campus each summer we need your help to make their stay comfortable and event successful. Why not apply to be a Conference Coordinator?

While part of this effort you will have the opportunity to gain leadership experience, enhance problem solving skills and serve as an essential member of a dynamic team working together to successfully host conferences and camps at Vanderbilt. The 2012 season will run from Monday, May 7, through Wednesday, August 8.

Our goal is to provide the highest level of customer service in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. Our office serves as guest relations, a liaison between campus facilities and services, and local attractions. We assist with all details of camp and conference preparation, arrival, housing, meals, transportation, and meeting details. The Conference Coordinator, or CC is an integral part of the Office of Conferences-€™ staff.   CCs are responsible for the daily success of the conference program. By forecasting and responding to the needs of the visiting conference/event groups, CCs are involved in every aspect of the conference.

Due to the nature of the position, staff may not hold another job, or take summer school classes while employed by the Vanderbilt Office of Conferences. Benefits include campus housing, $7.25 per hour salary for a 40-hour week, paid training, meals when Rand is open and campus housing.

CC applications and job descriptions are now available in the Office of Conferences, 3100C Stapleton (Branscomb), www.meetatvanderbilt.com or by emailing conferences@vanderbilt.edu. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 17.
