Johanna Kandel is the founder/CEO of The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness and author of Life Beyond Your Eating Disorder (Harlequin). Since October 2000, Johanna has brought information and awareness about eating disorders to more than 200,000 individuals, nationally and internationally including numerous college campuses. She mentors individuals with eating disorders and their families through their treatment and recovery, helps people to gain information and find the help they need, and advocates for legislation on a state and national level.
Johanna is the current President of the Eating Disorders Coalition. She is an active participant in National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and has received many awards for her work, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service ©. Johanna has appeared on national television programs including NBC Nightly News and The Today Show, and has been profiled in the New York Times, Boston Globe, LA Times, and Glamour Magazine.
