Nichole Smith Nashville, TN - The New Beginnings Center

The goal of this project was to improve marketing and recruiting strategies at The New Beginnings Center (TNBC), a non-profit organization founded in 2011 that offers free fitness, nutrition, and self-empowerment programs for women in the Metro Nashville, TN area from low-income households. In addition to volunteering at the classes and helping to develop curriculum, I worked as a member of TNBC’s recruitment committee to establish new partnerships with Nashville agencies serving similar populations. I also helped to set up opportunities for TNBC’s staff and past clients to speak and demonstrate some of the techniques they have learned at workshops, health fairs, and other events in the Nashville area. Ultimately, my work will assist TNBC in meeting some of its requirements for United Way and corporate sponsor funding, and will also help the relatively new organization become a more well-known resource in the greater Nashville community.
