Joshua Everett Nashville, TN - Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center

I developed and implemented a creative writing program for detainees at Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center. I worked to equip them with the tools necessary to express themselves and improve their functional literacy. The eight-week curriculum introduced and developed elements of creative writing through various activities. I saw the detainees develop more confidence in their writing ability in the short term. Long term I hope this program can help decrease the likelihood of their recidivism.
