Ingram Scholars demonstrate a willingness and ability to combine a successful career with a lifelong commitment to developing solutions to critical societal problems, working with organizations to create projects that are durable, sustainable, and culturally responsive.
Upon graduation, these students will become leaders in their respective fields, transforming their communities in informed and creative ways. The Ingram Scholars Program is a unique and innovative example of how a university can prepare students for responsible careers and a lifetime of useful contributions to the well-being of others.
Scholars understand that service comes first from humility, intentional listening, and a community-first focus. Meet our current Ingram Scholars who are making a positive impact on a local and global level.
From Nashville to Nicaragua, our sophomore Scholars develop a service proposal and spend eight weeks working closely with a community organization around an issue they care deeply about.
Every month, Ingram Scholars work with established not-for-profit and professional organizations on projects that are durable, sustainable, and culturally responsive. Ingram Scholars act as ambassadors, carrying these values with them in their academic pursuits and beyond.
Ingram Scholars receive full-tuition support and housing benefits each year, in addition to a stipend for one immersive service experience. Vanderbilt will provide additional need-based financial aid to those whose demonstrated financial need exceeds the amount of full tuition plus housing. Scholarships are renewable annually up to eight semesters, contingent on a 3.0 minimum GPA and the fulfillment of monthly service requirements.
The Ingram Scholars Program has a strong history of engaging in durable, reciprocal relationships with local, national, and global community-based organizations, not-for-profits, and NGOs. Scholars partner with Nashville organizations, engaging in direct, intentional service based on relationships and communication. If you are interested in partnering with one or many of our scholars on a current project or future endeavor, please reach out.
Our active alumni network not only continues to demonstrate their commitment to incurring positive social change, but also strives to nurture the social sensibilities of others in their civic and professional spheres. Mentoring undergraduate students, assisting them with summer internships or job placement, and perpetuating vital community service are all ways that Ingram alumni continue the work they began at Vanderbilt.
