2020-2021 Student Committee
Alexis Pramberger, Senior
Campus Involvement: Early Development Lab RA, Vanderbilt Off Broadway, EmbrACE, VSG Committee, MCL, Commodore Quest
“Mental health is the basis of our wellness as humans. In sharing our stories, we open dialogues which heal, promote understanding, and build communities. The opportunity to be vulnerable with each-other and communicate such deep emotions is irreplaceable in terms of the good it does.”
Varsha Ayyalapu, Sophomore
“I wanted to get involved with the Imperfection Project to help change the campus culture on what it means to be a Vanderbilt Student. I think its easy to look around and believe that everyone is doing it all while being happy. I hope with the Imperfection Project, we can begin to normalize that nobody here is perfect and begin authentic conversations about the full story of our time as students.”
Bryce Emanuel, Sophomore
Campus Involvement: Black Student Association, REVAMP, Neuroscience Majors Club, Students Demand Action
“I wanted to be a part of the [IM]Perfection Project, because of my struggles with mental health, as well as hearing the experiences of those around me. Having conversations surrounding mental health allows people to know that others have these struggles too and that they shouldn’t feel alone and helpless in these struggles. I don’t want for students to come into college and have all of the positive impacts that they could potentially have and make here, be inhibited due to them not getting help for their struggles with their mental health.”
Kaitlyn Hammond, Sophomore
Campus Involvement: VUTheatre, Active Minds, Vandy Writes, SPEAR.
“I believe no one deserves to feel alone! Everyone has a story that others could benefit from hearing, and I want to help encourage people to share their stories in a comfortable environment.”
Lauren Rhodes, Sophomore
Campus Involvement: Club Field Hockey, Project Bridges, UNICEF, Women in Government, Circle K International
“I chose to join the [IM]Perfection Project because I think every person should recognize and embrace their own imperfections, and this is something I have struggled with throughout my life. It is never easy showing the vulnerability that accompanies flaw, but when we embrace it, we allow ourselves to take control of the most challenging aspects of our lives and accept who we are. My main goal in this project is to learn to do this for myself and to be an example through which others find empowerment.”
Cooper Scanlon, Sophomore
Campus Involvement: FirstVU, House Programming and Advisory Council, Commons Leadership Council, Commons Conversations Initiative
“I believe there is only one way to prevent Mental Health from being the elephant in the room: talking about it.”
Celine Yoon, Sophomore
“I chose to join the Imperfection Project because I feel that its mission is incredibly important. I want more students to know that they are not alone in their struggles and that it is okay to look for help and guidance. Mental health should not be ignored and I’d love for more awareness to be raised about this issue.”
