Nov. 20, 2020 – Updates to gathering size requirements effective Monday

Posted by on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Community Messages.

Dear Vanderbilt community,

Nashville officials announced yesterday that the city would not allow gatherings of more than eight people in both public and private settings starting Monday, Nov. 23.

We are writing to share that we will be updating our university protocols to limit gatherings to eight people starting Monday, when the city’s new order goes into effect. These gatherings must still require individuals to be both physically distanced and masked.

The health and safety of the university community are foundational to our response to COVID-19. Faculty, staff, postdocs and students that remain in Nashville should carefully review the university’s Gatherings policy to ensure they are adhering to the guidelines during the holiday season.

Please take care of yourself, your friends, your family and your community during next week, and through the extended winter intersession. Those who plan to gather with eight or fewer people at any point during this winter holiday season can take steps to protect themselves and others by following key CDC guidelines.

Thank you and have a safe holiday season,
