Mar. 22, 2020 – Remote work for faculty following Nashville Safer at Home Order
Dear colleagues,
As you have likely seen, the university is further reinforcing its remote work policy in light of the new Safer at Home Order issued by the Nashville Metro Public Health Department on March 22, which goes into effect Monday, March 23.
Given this, please note that remote teaching on campus is not an absolute necessity and should be conducted off campus.
All faculty should work remotely unless provided an exception from their dean or department chair based on the absolute necessity that they be on campus to do their work, such as those responsible for lab safety, care for lab animals, and simulation lab instruction in medicine and nursing.
The university recognizes that faculty may need to retrieve materials from their offices, labs and classrooms. Faculty should retrieve these resources by the end of the day on Monday, March 23.
Online and alternative education will continue as planned. Again, faculty should teach courses remotely and not come to campus. Faculty and students should participate in online and alternative education in situations that allow them to maintain social distancing protocols recommended by the CDC.
Sincerely,
Tracey George
Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
