Overview of Recruitment Events
There are a variety of activities throughout the fall to help potential new members meet and connect with active Panhellenic sorority members leading up to the formal recruitment process itself.
Pre-Recruitment Events
Panhellenic Information Sessions
Open meetings for potential members to gain information about the sorority recruitment process and to register to participate in recruitment. This event is not a part of the formal recruitment process and is not mandatory for registration, however you must complete the online application and pay the associated fee to be able to participate in formal recruitment.
Panhellenic Coffee Chats
Coffee Chats are an opportunity for potential new members (you!) to connect with individual active sorority members. You will be able to learn more about each other and what Panhellenic sorority life is like over a meal, coffee, or a walk on campus. Attendance isn’t mandatory, but a sign up is required and can be found on the Panhellenic Anchorlink page under Forms.
Panhellenic Speaker Series
Speaker Series events are an opportunity for potential new members (you!) can learn about topics that impact sorority members on our campus.
Panhellenic Sorority Social
The Sorority Social is an organization fair type of event where the potential new members (you!) can meet with and interact with all nine (9) of our Panhellenic organizations to learn more about them, enjoy some sweet treats and meet other PNMs.
Recruitment and Panhellenic 101
A meeting held right before Winter Break, during which potential members will be given specifics about the formal recruitment weekends. There will be a panel of Vanderbilt sorority women who will share their experiences during the formal recruitment process and will be available to answer questions and offer advice.
Panhellenic Recruitment Registration
Register for the Panhellenic Recruitment process September 15, 2024 through December 15, 2024. Once you decide to do so, it’s important to know that:
- The registration fee is $50.00 which supports Panhellenic Recruitment operations and to fund educational and social programming for our organizations, run the business of the Council, and provide scholarship opportunities for new and initiated members.
If you need a fee reduction/waiver, you can indicate that on the registration form. - The form will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and ask for the following information:
- Contact information for yourself that the Panhellenic Recruitment Team and your Recruitment Counselor will use to contact you
- Contact information for a parent or guardian who the Office of Greek Life Staff will reach out to in case of emergencies
- Any activities that you participated in while in high school and now
- Any previous recruitment experience you have participated in either at Vanderbilt or another campus
- A photograph of yourself to help the Panhellenic Executive Council and participating chapters identify you
Formal Recruitment Rounds
Round One – Display Round
The first round of recruitment is meant to give all potential new members an opportunity to meet with all nine of our Panhellenic organizations and learn basic information about each of our groups while enjoying conversations with members.
Round Two – Philanthropy and Service Round
The second round of recruitment is meant to introduce potential new members to the philanthropic side of Panhellenic life. During meetings on this day, chapters will share the different philanthropic and service efforts that they are engaged in as well as other campus organizations. Participants can meet with a maximum of seven chapters during this round.
Round Three – Sisterhood Round
The third round of recruitment will see potential new members meeting with chapters again to learn about the financial commitment of sorority membership as well as what makes each organization’s sisterhood unique. Participants can meet with a maximum of five chapters during this round.
Round Four – Preference Round
The final round of recruitment will have potential new members meet with chapters to discuss what each sorority can offer to its members. Potential new members will visit up to two chapters.
Bid Day
On this day, those potential new members receiving bids will find out which group they have been invited to join. There will be a short Panhellenic-wide ceremony before the new members attend their organization-specific celebrations.
