Director of Business Operations
Alex Shea is the director of business operations for the Division of Government and Community Relations. In this role, Shea supports the successful day-to-day operations and development of the division through the execution of strategic processes. Her responsibilities include managing the budget and financial resources, enacting personnel and human resource procedures, troubleshooting operational issues, and coordinating large projects that require cross-functional collaboration.
Shea previously served as office administrator in Vanderbilt’s Office of Federal Relations. Her responsibilities included financial operations, project support, events and schedules coordination, and oversight of office procedures, databases and IT systems.
Prior to her time at Vanderbilt, Shea was a law clerk for Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, LLP, serving on multiple deal teams to facilitate complex mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments.
Shea holds a juris doctorate from American University Washington College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University, where she majored in economics and political science.
