The Washington D.C. Fly In brings together more than 40 members and partners of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This annual trip is an important opportunity for industry leaders to engage directly with federal lawmakers, emphasizing the significance of their work for businesses in Tennessee.

Green and Culbreath shared Vanderbilt’s perspective on key issues, highlighting the importance of continuing partnerships with members of the Tennessee congressional delegation in securing federal research funding. They also joined other major employers across the state to call on lawmakers to support policies that promote business growth and make it easier to recruit talent to the region.

"The conversations and collaborations from this event are important for aligning Vanderbilt’s objectives with national and regional priorities in advancing economic development, workforce initiatives, and research support throughout the state,” said Green. “We are excited about the potential opportunities that have emerged and are committed to leveraging these connections to benefit both our university and the broader community.”

As a sponsor of the event, Vanderbilt played a key role in fostering collaboration between Tennessee’s academic and business sectors. The event provided a platform for meaningful discussions, including meetings with Tennessee’s congressional delegation and policy briefings and workshops from national organizations.

By engaging directly with Tennessee’s congressional delegation and influential industry groups, Vanderbilt continues to strengthen its advocacy efforts and reinforce its role as a leader in Tennessee. The university’s partnership with the Tennessee Chamber is critical in advancing and influencing initiatives that drive progress and address regional challenges.
