Vanderbilt University’s Division of Government and Community Relations announces the addition of Jessica Steen and Julie Harding to its team. Steen will lead the division’s communications initiatives and Harding will support our federal and state government relations efforts.
Steen is an accomplished and skilled communicator and visual designer with more than ten years of experience. In her role as Communications Strategist, she will lead all internal and external communications to optimize the university’s outreach and increase engagement with community partners, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
Steen joins Vanderbilt after leading her own freelance web and graphic design practice. She previously worked in marketing and communications at Belmont University as a web and digital media specialist and served as communications director at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.
The division also welcomes Julie Harding as Government Relations Program Coordinator.
Harding joined Vanderbilt from the O'Brien School for the Maasai, a non-governmental primary school in Tanzania, where she served as director of special projects. She will leverage her background in public policy to support communications for our state and federal outreach as well as provide on-campus program support. She has recently completed a master’s degree in global strategic communication.
The GCR division is excited to add Jessica and Julie to the team. Their new roles will aid in amplifying Vanderbilt’s impact in the Nashville community, and in Washington, D.C.
