Paul Madden

Associate General Counsel

In his current role as Associate General Counsel, Paul is responsible for advising on facilities, construction and real estate issues that arise at the university, and also assists in other areas as needed. Paul’s expertise has helped campus partners navigate liens, construction, and real estate issues and provided subject-matter advice for strategic projects.

Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Xavier University and Juris Doctor from Belmont University College of Law in 2019, where he participated in moot court and was nationally recognized for his brief-writing skills. Prior to joining Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel, Paul worked at Silicon Ranch Corporation, where he drafted and negotiated contracts for the construction of PV facilities. Prior to that, Paul worked at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C., where he advised clients in matters of construction and litigation.

Paul is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Tennessee Bar Association. Paul is admitted to practice law in Tennessee.
