In her role as Associate General Counsel, Hannah is responsible for advising on labor and employment issues that arise at the University, and also assists in other areas as needed. Hannah’s experience with both education law and civil litigation has been instrumental in researching unique legal issues impacting the University, issue-spotting various documents for potential legal concerns, working with outside counsel on ongoing litigation involving the University, and advising University campus partners in complex situations.
Hannah received her Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in International Relations, with minors in Spanish and Music, from Middle Tennessee State University in 2013. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Belmont University College of Law in 2017, where she served as the Managing Editor for the Belmont Law Review and as a research assistant for Legal Information and Communication Professor Brenda See. Her Law Review Note was selected for publication in the 2017 edition of the Belmont Law Review.
Prior to joining Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel, Hannah served as a litigation attorney for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County’s Department of Law, where she represented the City of Nashville and its employees in a wide variety of lawsuits filed in Davidson County Circuit and Chancery Courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. Prior to that, Hannah worked in K-12 education law capacities, as a staff attorney for both Wilson County Schools and the Tennessee State Board of Education. Immediately after law school, Hannah worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights and Claims Division of the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office representing the State of Tennessee in Tennessee state and federal courts.
Hannah is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys. She is admitted to practice law in Tennessee. In her free time, Hannah enjoys running, reading, going to concerts, and traveling.
