Anthony Schlehuber

Associate General Counsel

In his role as Associate General Counsel, Anthony Schlehuber is responsible for intellectual property matters across the university, ranging from research and innovation to copyrights to trademarks. Anthony additionally provides counsel on data privacy issues and international contracting. Anthony’s expertise has helped navigate Vanderbilt staff and faculty through the ever-changing world of research compliance and grant funding and he has advised the university as it enters a new era of college athletics.

Anthony received his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and Juris Doctor from University of Minnesota Law School, where he was a member of the National Moot Court team and a board member of the Intellectual Property Law Association. Anthony is also a Patent Attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel, Anthony worked at the law firms of Robins Kaplan, LLP and Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, and Berkowitz, P.C., where he worked in both firm’s intellectual property teams.

Anthony is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the American Bar Association, and is a board member on the Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association (serving as president 2024-2025). Anthony is admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Minnesota.

Anthony is an avid cook and aspiring woodworker. Whether in the kitchen or the garage, Anthony enjoys opportunities to turn raw materials into a finished project for both him and others to enjoy. Anthony’s favorite spot on campus is any shady spot in the Arboretum on a sunny day.
