Amber Payne

Law Fellow

In her role as a Law Fellow in Vanderbilt University’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Amber Payne supports the office by conducting legal research on a wide array of topics, drafting agreements, advising on legal matters related to university operations, and collaborating on special and strategic projects for the university. Amber’s unique experience as a Vanderbilt alumna has been instrumental developing sound university policies, fostering partnerships, and advancing the university’s mission.

Amber received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies and Spanish from Vanderbilt University. She received her Juris Doctor from Belmont University where she served as a Teacher’s Assistant, President of the Black Law Student’s Association, and Student Ambassador. Additionally, during her legal education, she was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Torts and Juvenile Law as well as the Dr. Fannie Hewlett Award.

Prior to joining the OGC Amber interned with the Nashville Predators where she developed an interest in the intersection of law and complex organizations. She also worked at the Tennessee Office of the Attorney General’s Education and Employment Division where she supported several attorneys in civil litigation and contractual matters.

Amber is admitted to practice law in Tennessee.

Amber is also fluent in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen or taking dance lessons.
