Scopes “Monkey” Trial Centennial Festival

Join us in the spring and summer of 2025 as we look back at 100 years since the infamous Scopes Monkey Trial (July 1925). High school science teacher John T. Scopes was tried and convicted of teaching human evolution in a Dayton, TN high school. After a trial that had national attention, the jury found Scopes guilty – but fearing drawn out media attention, the TN Supreme Court ruled it a mistrial on a technicality with the handling of the fine.
