The Broadie Lab is interested in the development and remodeling of neural circuits. They focus on synapse formation (synaptogenesis), function (neurotransmission), and use-dependent adaptation (plasticity). This work is at the interface between genetic inheritance and environmental input forces that together sculpt brain circuit connectivity to optimize the nervous system. The lab has a long-term interest in evolution and works to compare work in insects to similar work in rodents and human disease states.
