The Editor’s Note
As 2023 winds down, there are still a couple of learning experiences on the HR ELE calendar to close out the year.
On another note, last week we completed our fall book club series, Aspiring LeadeReads, which centered on the book, No Hard Feelings: The Secret Power of Embracing Emotions at Work. After reading the book as a team (ELE), we thought it would be a great offering for VU staff. It turned out to be the perfect pick for the highly engaged group of staff who joined us. Several participants have shared with us the value they found in this learning experience. With spring approaching, we hope you’ll join us for the next Aspiring LeadeReads offering. Stay tuned to learn more about our spring lineup in the coming weeks!

Did You Know…?
Perception shapes our worldview as we navigate our life experiences, but there is room for expansion.
“So we’re all living inside of our own Perception Box. It’s dark in there. It doesn’t actually see or hear anything. It’s just a series of signals, and each brain, you can think of it like a thumbprint. Physically speaking, each brain is unique. It’s slightly different, and it’s shaped throughout our lives based on our experiences. Our perceptions are basically formed from a combination of what we expect, so that’s coming internally from our past experiences, and then what’s coming into our brain externally.” ~ Dr. Heather Berlin, Neuroscientist
