Dear students,
The university has been made aware of an incident in which a racist statement targeting African Americans was written on a dry-erase board in a Divinity School classroom. We have identified persons of interest and continue to investigate the matter.
It is critically important that our community understands that this type of language and action, which compromises our culture of belonging and safety, has no place on our campus.
No member of our community should be made to feel unwelcome or unsafe. It is unacceptable and it will not be tolerated. As a university, we condemn expressions of hate, bias and discrimination in all forms.
Sincerely,
G.L. Black
Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
Dr. André L. Churchwell
Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
