Welcome to SkyVU in Review – features, announcements, tips & tricks and other updates for Vanderbilt’s Oracle Cloud system and related processes.
Oracle Cloud Updates
2020 Year End Documents available in Oracle
Employees may now view or download their 2020 Form W-2 within Oracle Cloud or by following the instructions available in the Help Center:
Note: Users who receive a Service Free Stipend will receive a separate communication, as these are not reported on Form W-2 or 1099.
Absences for COVID-19 vaccination
The COVID-19 Leave Bank and COVID-19 Vaccination Policy has been updated to allow employees to utilize COVID-19 Leave without first exhausting Legacy Sick time if they are taking the time to get a vaccination.
Please review the policy for additional details and contact the HR Benefits team via the Oracle Help Desk or email if you have any questions.
Oracle Recruiting and Onboarding now live
Oracle Recruiting and Onboarding use has been ramping up steadily since going live on Jan 4, 2021.
So far over 2,000 applicants have applied for positions through the enhanced portal, and we have completed 13 staff hires in the first three weeks of the new year. In addition, there are 65 requisitions currently posted on the Careers site and 95 open requisitions currently in process.
Training
We encourage users to review the following online training in Oracle Learning:
Explore the newly-enabled Connections app
We are excited to introduce the new Connections app within Oracle Cloud!
Connections goes beyond the current directory experience by providing an enhanced search for colleagues by name and department. In addition, users will see an enhanced profile display that includes not only the user’s current contact information, organization and representatives, but also allows users to personalize their page as desired with information about their interests and expertise to build additional connections with their colleagues.
To access Connections, open Oracle Cloud and click the Connections app in the Me folder, then search for yourself or a colleague to get started.
In Focus: Prepare for Oracle Update 21A on Feb 19-20
Testing is underway for the new release of Oracle Cloud update 21A, and additional information regarding applicable updates and new features will be shared over the course of the next few weeks via user group meetings, in-system guidance, email and/or MyVU as applicable.
Scheduled Downtime
The quarterly upgrade will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, February 19, and continue through Saturday, February 20.
A downtime notice will be displayed on our website while the upgrade and testing are underway and will be removed when these activities are complete and the system is available to all users.
Tip of the Week
Try shortcut CTRL-ALT-H to open the Help Center
Users can quickly open the Help Center from any Oracle page where the widget is visible using a CTRL-ALT-H keyboard shortcut.
This will open the panel and move your cursor to the search bar – begin typing to search for guidance and resources or select from the list to launch the online guidance or open a quick guide.
2021 Oracle User Continuing Education
We are excited to kick off the 2021 continuing education series beginning in February.
As we look to the semester ahead, we note that there are fewer large-scale changes on the horizon at this time, and thus we will be adjusting our approach as follows:
- User group meetings will be held quarterly (rather than monthly) in order to correspond with the quarterly upgrade cycle and ensure you are informed of any updates that will impact you and your teams; and then
- Additional small group sessions will be scheduled for more detailed discussion of various topics and issues.
All FUMs, HCM Specialists, Approvers and Procurement users should review their email for additional details this week.
