The West End Neighborhood is quickly transforming as areas such as the Kensington beautification and the new Commons/Lawn are completed, and the community will soon be able to enjoy the newly renovated area. It is important to remember that the neighborhood is still an active construction zone. To stay safe; observe the following:
- Use alternative walkways that are allocated for pedestrian safety. These will help keep you safe from active construction zones.
- Do not tamper with, climb or lean on the fences — these were put in place for your protection.
- Use the VandySafe app to learn the safest routes through campus.
- Report dangerous hazards and anything suspicious to VUPS by calling (615) 322-2745. For emergencies, call 911 or (615) 421-1911.
- Use the Construction Feedback Form to communicate non-emergency situations or if you believe construction is happening outside of the designated times.

- Construction hours are now 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
- The Zeta Tau Alpha house is completed, and the new NPHC house is expected to be finished later this month.
- Phase 1 of the beautification process in the West End Neighborhood will be completed this fall with the opening of the New Commons/Lawn and Kensington in September. These areas will feature pedestrian-and bike-friendly pathways and community green spaces. See the photographs below of the transformation of these two areas.
- The sod is being placed throughout the New Commons/Lawn and Kensington areas, but they will remain temporarily fenced off to let the grass take root. By October all the protective sod fencing will be down, and the green space will be available for use.
- VandyVans is now VandyRide and features two routes to help students, faculty and staff travel safely around campus in a shorter amount of time. The shuttles run from 5 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Download the VandyRide DoubleMap App to view all VandyRide routes.

- Submit feedback: The Campus Planning & Construction department launched a Construction Feedback Form. The form is a simple way to share if you believe noise or construction activities are happening outside of the working hours put in place, or if you believe there is a non-emergency issue. The hotline email Constr_alerts@Vanderbilt.edu and phone line (615)-343-9675 are also available.
- The Facilities Department is hosting a series of town hall meetings during the 2019/20 academic year. These meetings are an opportunity for the Vanderbilt community to voice their concerns, ask questions and learn about more about the West End Neighborhood project. The next town hall meeting is on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Carmichael Towers East lounge.
- For parking questions, please contact VUPS Parking Services at (615) 322-2554.
