The university held a town hall on April 2 for West End neighborhood residents to discuss ongoing construction activity in the neighborhood and plans for the upcoming end-of-year events such as finals, Commencement and move-out.

The university as well as our contractor, Layton, understand that living in or near an extensive construction zone is not easy. We continuously strive to balance the needs of the project’s schedule and budget with our student experience and appreciate the patience, understanding and cooperation by the residents in the neighborhood during this time.
During finals week, starting April 23, the university has decided to cease all rock excavation, which produces a loud noise. However, in response to the town hall discussion, the university has decided to suspend construction activities to include:
All loud rock excavation at all areas of construction (as mentioned above)
All ground level excavation that causes dust or excessive back-up beeping
Specific trenching for electrical to Greek Houses on Kensington and Radius Alley
Limiting equipment movement that will cause back up beeping. This will be limited to specific deliveries and will be sporadic throughout times from late morning to early afternoon each day but will not be ongoing
Hammer drilling into concrete at both West End Neighborhood and RC-A will be suspended
Cutting and chopping steel scrap inside RC-A
As noted in the town hall and in the link above, please use the hotline email, Constr_alerts@Vanderbilt.edu and phone number, (615)-343-9675, if you believe noise or activity is outside of the temporary limits put into place.
Beautification efforts in the West End Neighborhood continue. This includes work along West Side Row, alleyways and Kensington. Construction on house sites 1, 2 and 3 also continue.
Concrete pours will continue through April. Students residing in the Towers and Greek houses will continue to receive emails from Housing in advance of the pours.
Fences have been placed around the construction sites noted above.
To accommodate construction underway, Parking Services continues to make five floors of the 25thAvenue Garage available to F permit holders. A VandyVans stop was installed at this location and will continue to support increased student traffic in the area.
VandyVans stops in the West End neighborhood are located at Branscomb and lot in front of Carmichael Towers East. Slight adjustments may be made to routes taken during construction, but schedules will not be impacted. Be sure to download the DoubleMap app and select Vanderbilt. This allows riders to track the progress of shuttles in real time.
Additional short-term and long-term mobility solutions for the area, and rest of campus, will be addressed through MoveVU. Updates on MoveVU will be provided later this year.
