Disability & Chronic Health Employee Affinity Group
Mission and Vision
This group is a place for employees who identify as having visible or invisible disabilities, chronic mental or physical health conditions, and their allies. The group gathers to address and discuss issues that impact the group, such as discrimination, misconceptions, mental health, navigating workplace interactions, and other relevant topics. The group aims to provide a safe and brave space for members to be heard while engaging in sharing of resources, social programming, and community activism through regular meetings.

The Disability & Chronic Health Conditions Employee Affinity Group (EAG) is open to all Vanderbilt employees (faculty, staff, and post-docs) who identify as having visible or invisible disabilities, chronic mental or physical health conditions, or being neurodiverse. This EAG welcomes allies as well as Vanderbilt employees who have a family member who identifies with any of the categories listed above. An individual’s identification within the disability community is not dependent on having obtained a diagnosis of a disability, physical, or mental health condition from a medical provider given the systemic barriers faced by many, particularly those from historically marginalized groups. The Virtual Gathering schedule for the 2022-2023 school year is listed below:
- September 27, 2022 @ 12:00pm via Zoom
- October 27, 2022@ 12:00pm via Zoom
- December 5, 2022 @ 12:00pm via Zoom
- February 16, 2023 @ 12:00pm via Zoom
- April 25, 2023 @ 12:00pm via Zoom
