As part of the Gisela Mosig Lecture Series, the German Graduate Student Association and the Vanderbilt Center for Digital Humanities will be hosting a lecture and a workshop and discussion on digital humanities tools and the creation of collaborative digital projects. The lecture and workshop will both be led by Matthew Handelman, who is Assistant Professor of German at Michigan State University. Dr. Handelman’s research focuses on German-Jewish intellectual history and the history of technology; currently, along with scholars from Germany and Israel, he is in the process of creating a social edition of Franz Rosenzweig’s Star of Redemption. The Friday workshop will be followed by an informal discussion with Dr. Handelman about his experience on the academic job market.
