November 16: GIS DAY @ Vanderbilt
Wednesday, November 16 is GIS DAY 2016, and, along with the Library, we’re hosting a number of events to celebrate Geographic Information Systems and their innovative use in humanities research.
Introduction to GIS
10:30 am, 418 A Central Library
Basic introduction to geospatial data visualization and mapping using QGIS, an open source Geographic Information Systems platform.
Spatial Humanities Open House
1 pm-2:30pm, Vanderbilt Center for Digital Humanities, 344 Buttrick Hall
Stop by the Center for Digital Humanities to learn more about digital spatial humanities projects now underway at Vanderbilt. Areas of investigation range from geographic analysis using drones and virtual reality to the role of interactive mapping in history pedagogy. Drop in for a series of brief, informal presentations by A&S faculty and graduate students, followed by general discussion. Refreshments will be served.
