AI is now essential in research, education and industry. We will build our community of AI researchers, educators, and users by providing training on the foundations of AI, the skills necessary to work confidently with AI models, ethical and social implications of AI, presenting the latest research employing AI at Vanderbilt and applications of breakthrough technologies in multiple areas, while encouraging the building of research collaborations across domains.

Overview

Vanderbilt and the Data Science Institute announce the university’s second ever AI Days. This 2 day event, scheduled for March 5th, is open to the public and offers something for everyone who wants to learn more about artificial intelligence. Participants will explore modern training methods and architectural models in AI and ensure that they are up to date in this rapidly evolving landscape. For faculty and students that will be teaching AI models or using AI models in their classroom or research, this event offers essential topics.

What kind of tracks will be offered?

Join researchers from Vanderbilt's Center for Applied AI in Protein Dynamics (CAAPD) for sessions exploring how AI is reshaping protein science. Faculty members will present current research on using AI to understand protein structures, investigate disease mechanisms, and develop new approaches to drug discovery. This track offers insights into the practical applications of AI in molecular biology and biochemistry. Suitable for researchers and students interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence and protein science.

Featured Speakers

Ben Hunt, a Vanderbilt alumnus ('86) and chief investment officer at Second Foundation Partners, will deliver a keynote presentation on "Reading the Rhyme of History: Using Generative AI to Identify the Semantic Signatures of Primary Texts." As the author of Epsilon Theory, a newsletter read by over 100,000 professional investors, Hunt brings unique insights from pioneering the use of language models in institutional investment analysis. His talk will draw on his extensive experience as a former hedge fund manager, political science professor, and technology entrepreneur, combining his Harvard Ph.D. expertise with practical applications of AI in market analysis.

Recap AI Training Day 2024

Last year’s AI Training Day was a great success, drawing over 330 participants, including researchers, educators, and industry professionals. The event covered everything from AI model development to architectural innovations, showcasing the strength of Vanderbilt’s AI community. This year, we're building on that momentum and thinking even bigger, with more immersive content, larger-scale collaborations, and expanded opportunities for learning and networking.
