We are thrilled to highlight the achievements of one of our graduate students at the Data Science Institute, Rio Jia. Rio has made significant contributions to an Augmented Reality (AR) Art project in collaboration with the FRIST Center for Autism & Innovation and Dr. Kendra H. Oliver. Dr. Oliver is Director, Design, School of Medicine Basic Sciences, Director and Founder, ArtLab & Design Lab, and Associate Professor, Pharmacology. Their groundbreaking work is reshaping artistic expression and captivating audiences with its unique blend of technology and creativity.
Rio has been instrumental in the curation, design, and development of an Augmented Reality Art component that will be showcased in our upcoming VI4 AiR Exhibition this August. –Kendra H. Oliver, Ph.D.
Beyond this exhibition, Rio and Dr. Kendra Oliver plan to collaborate on analyzing the data usage and impact of the AR components. This analysis will combine data science techniques with qualitative data collected during the exhibition, providing valuable insights. Their work has already been chosen for presentation at SECAC, a respected national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing visual arts education and research. By seamlessly integrating technology and artistic vision, Rio is exploring new possibilities in the world of augmented reality.
