We are pleased to announce a new opportunity to foster interdisciplinary collaborations across the university that will be offered through the Office of Research and Innovation. The one-year seed grants will support innovative projects exploring applications of generative AI and large language models in various domains.
These $20,000 grants are intended to stimulate new partnerships between researchers across all of our schools and colleges. Proposed projects should apply these new AI/LLM technologies to areas such as:
•Research – Applying AI to accelerate discovery and insight.
•Education – Using AI to enhance teaching and learning.
•Innovation – Generating new ideas, products, companies, etc. through AI.
•Public Policy – Using AI to help solve complex policy issues.
However, we encourage proposals on any interdisciplinary topic that leverages AI and language models.
The goal is to catalyze new research directions, fund high-risk/high-reward projects, and build new relationships that extend beyond this initial seed funding. Collaborations with external partners and matching funds are welcomed but not required. Both theoretical and applied projects will be considered.
Detailed information will be announced on the Internal Funding Opportunities website in late summer with an expected application deadline in early October.
