Classification of Drug-Related Adverse Events

Our team is interested in developing natural language processing (NLP) systems using transformers to classify whether patients have drug-related adverse events from patients’ clinical notes in Vanderbilt University Medical Center electronic health records (EHRs), which could be potentially associated with a specific drug of interest. The Initial approach to this project will be binary classification, but future work will involve a multi-class classification task.

A student who participates in this project could be a co-author of manuscript when we write the manuscript. However, at this point, there is no funding available for this work. Please contact Leena Choi (email: leena.choi@vumc.org) if you are interested in working on this project.
