Rachel Skaggs
Graduate Research Assistant
Rachel Skaggs is a Ph.D. candidate in Vanderbilt University’s Department of Sociology and is a research fellow at the Curb Center and Additionally, she currently serves as the book review editor for the international sociological journal Work and Occupations. In her time at Vanderbilt, Rachel has co-convened a seminar on the topic of music and justice through Vanderbilt’s Robert Penn Warren Center for the Humanities, participated in Vanderbilt’s federal STEM policy program, was a participant in the Mellon Institute for Digital and Public Humanities, and is an alum of the Curb Center’s Public Scholars program. Rachel is conducting her dissertation research on the career pathways of Nashville songwriters and is especially interested in how workers in creative industries are able to make a living while making their art.
